Everton wanted Mohammed Kudus but Ajax have rejected their £15million approach for the Ghanaian international midfielder.

The Toffees signed Amadou Onana in huge move from Lille last month but have still been chasing midfield additions.

Idrissa Gueye has arrived on deadline day and it looks like Manchester United’s James Garner won’t be far behind.

Everton have still been chasing another midfielder though, this time with the idea of signing a more forward-thinking player can be a number 10.

Everton wanted Mohammed Kudus

Everton were pushing to sign Mohammed Kudus in August but The Times suggested that talks with Ajax had hit a stumbling block.

The Mirror added that Ajax didn’t want to lose both Kudus and winger Antony in the same window.

Antony has now joined Manchester United and, sure enough, Ajax have stood firm on Kudus.

The Independent report that Everton offered £15million to sign Kudus but Ajax have said no and blocked any deadline day exit.

It’s stated that Ajax ultimately think he can be worth much more than that in year’s time, given that Kudus will be playing for Ghana at the World Cup.

Everton will therefore miss out on the 22-year-old and they don’t exactly have much time to find an alternative.

This comes after reports from the Netherlands suggested on Wednesday that Kudus was missing Ajax training because he really wanted to join Everton.

Kudus hasn’t got his wish and will now stay with Ajax for the foreseeable future.

Hailed as ‘really special’ by Dutch striker Tom van Weert, Kudus is an impressive dribbler and creator around the box.

Everton do lack that kind of talent and when you factor in the potential Kudus has, this would have been a hugely exciting move.

The Toffees may fancy trying again in January, but Ajax will seemingly hike the price up even higher after the World Cup and this move may be fading away for Everton.
