Everton want Mohamed Camara as they potentially move on from a deal to bring Idrissa Gueye back to Goodison Park this summer.

The Toffees completed a big move earlier this week by luring Lille midfielder Amadou Onana to Merseyside.

Yet Everton’s midfield spending may not be done just yet with Frank Lampard still seeking improvements there.

Gueye was the top target but problems during talks with Paris Saint-Germain mean Everton may not bring the Senegal ace back to Merseyside after all.

Everton want Mohamed Camara

The Daily Mail report that Everton have now switched their attention to Red Bull Salzburg’s midfield maestro Mohamed Camara.

It’s noted that Camara has earned comparisons to N’Golo Kante for his all-action style of play in midfield.

Camara is understood to be interested in making the move to Everton in order to play under Frank Lampard.

Lampard’s reputation as one of the finest midfielders of his generation seems to be helping Everton; first Onana, now potentially Camara.

Camara, 22, was plucked from Real Bamako in his native Mali back in 2018, with Red Bull Salzburg picking him up as one of their exciting talents for the future.

Now a first-team regular for Salzburg, Camara wouldn’t exactly come cheap for Everton if they do want to sign him.

Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten reported in July that Camara was on the verge of a £26million move to Leeds United.

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch worked with Camara at Salzburg and it looked like a deal was in the pipeline.

Leeds ended up signing Tyler Adams instead, which was a blow for Camara as the Whites had seemingly turned his head.

Newcastle United are also understood to have tracked Camara in recent times but it’s Everton who are now making their interest known.

To land Onana was a coup in itself, but pairing him up with Camara in midfield could be simply sensational for years to come, with both players full of potential as well as the intensity to make an instant impact in the Premier League.
