Leeds United are pushing for Mohamed Camara and could quickly wrap up a deal to sign the Red Bull Salzburg midfielder for £26million.

The Whites look set to lose Kalvin Phillips with the midfielder on the verge of signing for Manchester City.

That’s a huge blow for Leeds but few will begrudge him such a big move to the Premier League champions.

Phillips will leave a huge hole in the Leeds midfield and the Whites could end up signing two players to replace him.

Leeds United are pushing for Mohamed Camara

Reports from Germany on Sunday suggested that Leeds were close to signing RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams.

A deal wroth around £13million is in the pipeline for Adams but he may not be the only midfield addition to come.

Leeds have also been linked with Red Bull Salzburg ace Mohamed Camara in recent weeks.

Jesse Marsch has already raided former club Salzburg to land both Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen.

Camara could now follow in yet another reunion for the Leeds boss; after all, he also worked with Adams at New York Red Bulls and RB Leipzig.

Salzburger Nachrichten now report that a deal for Camara to join Leeds could move very quickly.

It’s stated that talks between Leeds and Salzburg came to a standstill but are now accelerating again.

The report notes that Leeds are now willing to spend €30million (£26million) on signing Camara, reinvesting the Phillips cash.

Camara has been left out of pre-season training so far in order to help facilitate a transfer and it looks like he could end up at Leeds.

The 22-year-old Mali international has primarily been a holding midfielder for Salzburg but he can also play as a box-to-box midfielder.

Diminutive, quick and able to stamp his authority on the midfielder through his passing, pressing, carrying and tackling, Camara looks like being an outstanding Phillips replacement.

Marc Roca is already on board but adding Adams and Camara could really revolutionise Marsch’s engine room.
