Everton and Leeds United want Che Adams but Southampton are now demanding around £25million for the striker.

Jesse Marsch and Frank Lampard have experienced differing starts to the season after battling against each other in last season’s survival race.

Leeds have taken seven points from three games whilst Everton are still waiting for their first win and have just one point to their name.

Both teams are desperate for a new striker; Leeds want more support in attack and Everton still need to properly replace Richarlison.

Everton and Leeds United want Che Adams

One name both clubs have considered is Southampton striker Che Adams, but that deal now looks very difficult.

The Sun reported in July that Leeds were chasing a deal for Adams, hoping that Southampton would sell in the region of £10million.

Everton then joined the race and explored a loan-to-buy deal for the Southampton striker, seemingly sensing encouragement that he was available.

Adams was on the bench for Southampton’s first three games of the season – but has now proven his worth.

The Scotland international came off the bench to score twice against Leicester City on Saturday, giving the Saints a huge 2-1 win.

This must feel like deja vu for Leeds; they were pushing to sign Adams in January 2020 but he enjoyed a superb cameo against – you guessed it – Leicester.

That meant Southampton decided to keep hold of Adams and it looks like the same is happening again more than two years on.

The Times claim that Southampton turned down Everton’s loan offer for Adams and have now set the price tag at around £25million.

That’s a £10million profit on the fee Southampton paid to sign Adams from Birmingham City in 2019.

It seems very unlikely that Everton or Leeds will now go and pay £25million for Adams, meaning a stay on the South Coast is now on the cards for Adams, who will be hoping for starts under Ralph Hasenhuttl.
