Leeds United want Che Adams again as the Southampton striker returns to Victor Orta’s wish list this summer.

Leeds have been chasing a striker of late but actually bringing one to Elland Road hasn’t been easy.

Charles De Ketelaere is set to join AC Milan despite weeks of Leeds chasing the Club Brugge star.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Arnaud Kalimuendo has also been linked, but that deal looks difficult to achieve right now.

Leeds may have to look elsewhere, and amid links to Fenerbahce’s Mergim Berisha, Orta may well return for Adams.

Leeds United want Che Adams again

Southampton striker Adams is a name familiar to many Leeds fans after previously targeting him.

Back in January 2020 – before the global pandemic and before Leeds signed Jean-Kevin Augustin – Orta seemingly wanted Adams.

The Spaniard hinted that a loan deal was close before Adams turned in a superb display for Southampton against Leicester City, convincing the Saints to keep him.

Fast forward two-and-a-half years and Adams is now back on the Leeds wish list.

The Sun report that Leeds are lining up a move to sign Adams this summer with a belief that he may actually be available.

Southampton have just landed French attacker Sekou Mara from Bordeaux, and Adams could be available.

It is though important to note that Southampton have lost loanee Armando Broja and Adam Armstrong has been linked away.

Adams may not be entirely done at Southampton just yet, but Leeds would like a deal worth around £10million; Southampton want more but there is optimism of a deal being done.

That would be a £5million loss on the fee Southampton paid in 2019, so it just doesn’t seem likely that the Saints will sell at that price.

Praised as ‘terrific’ by Ally McCoist, Adams has become a key Scotland international and bagged seven goals as well as three assists in 30 Premier League games last season.

Adams is a nuisance for defenders and that may be what Leeds fancy as competition for Patrick Bamford.

Maybe Orta will finally get his man after all.
