Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided an update on the future of English winger Noni Madueke amid links to Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have had a frustrating transfer window with the club yet to make a major outfield signing as the club hope to do a lot better than they did in the previous campaign.

HITC understands that Newcastle United remain in talks with Crystal Palace for the signing of Marc Guehi, after the Magpies saw their third offer, believed to be £65 million, turned down.

It’s unclear what Newcastle’s budget is for the remainder of this window, but you get the sense that Guehi could take up the majority of the funds.

Enzo Maresca provides update on Noni Madueke

HITC had reported that Newcastle United were keen on Noni Madueke with the Englishman’s future at Stamford Bridge uncertain.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Servette, Enzo Maresca has provided an update on the former PSV winger’s future.

“I really like Noni,” said Maresca, as per talkSPORT. “The only problem is that he has to understand that he has to be consistent during the week in training. He’s a good player and he’s doing well with us.”

Asked whether Madueke has a future at Stamford Bridge, the Italian said: “Yeah absolutely. But the reality is until the window closes, anything can happen.

“But for sure Noni is the kind of player that I like. We have so many games. If it’s to today it will be the next one, or the next one. Noni, I like him. He’s doing well since he started with us.”

Madueke would be an exciting signing for Newcastle

Whilst the Mapgies are focusing their efforts on the signing of Guehi, who excelled at Euro 2024, a new winger should be sought after.

Newcastle could be seeking a replacement with MLS side Charlotte FC keen on winger Miguel Almirion, whilst there has also been interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Madueke has shown moments of quality but Eddie Howe could do wonders with the winger, just as he did with Anthony Gordon.

With just days remaining of the summer transfer window, a new winger could be targeted and Madueke would make a lot of sense.
