- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC understands that Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron could be on his way out of the club to the MLS this summer.
We have reported that Miguel Almiron was wanted by Saudi Pro League sides with a potential double deal, including Callum Wilson, being discussed.
HITC have also reported that a new winger is of interest to the Magpies with Newcastle being interested in Pedro Neto, but the Portuguese winger decided to move to Chelsea with the Blues paying £54 million for the Wolves star.
However, Almiron remains at St James’ Park but it appears an MLS club have made their move for the Paraguayan winger.

Newcastle identify Chelsea winger as Miguel Almiron replacement
HITC can confirm that MLS side Charlotte have approached Newcastle winger Almiron over a possible move to America this summer.
Almiron is one of the players Newcastle are willing to move on this summer, as they are chasing a new right winger themselves and they are reportedly showing a strong interest in Chelsea’s Noni Madueke amongst others.
Madueke was hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino when the Argentine spoke to Squawka.
Almiron is a hugely popular player in America from his time with Atalanta United and MLS is keen for the Paraguayan to return.
The MLS transfer deadline is August 14th so if Charlotte wants him a deal would need to be done quickly with just one day remaining before the window slams shut.
However, at this stage it looks difficult for them to put together a deal which would mean they smash their transfer record which currently stands at around £5m which they paid Celtic for Liel Abada.
Saudi clubs remain keen on Almiron
As mentioned, the Middle East were originally keen on signing Almiron this summer and HITC understands that interest remains but a deal looks difficult.
Talks have, however, failed to progress for the winger to move to the Pro League this summer.
However, the Saudi Pro League deadline extends until October – so they don’t have to get their dealings done this month, so a deal could well be possible later this year.
As for Almiron, the Paraguayan has been one of the most reliable performers for Eddie Howe and it would be sad to see the winger leave St James’ Park this summer.
Almiron has consistently played in over 30 Premier League games for the club under Howe and netted 11 times during the 2022/23 campaign.
Howe once told Chronicle Live that there was ‘nobody better’ than Almiron but it appears his time in the North-East is coming to an end.
