The 2024 summer transfer is open and Arsenal are one of the teams to watch out for.

The Copa America and the European Championships have probably put the brakes on anything exploding.

But you expect things to really motor as teams get knocked out and you head towards the end of those tournaments.

It’s going to be interesting to see what road Arsenal go down this summer and what areas of the pitch they deem important and then very important.

One player currently thriving at Euro 2024 is Crystal Palace centre-back, Marc Guehi, who is only starting for England because Harry Maguire was ruled out of the tournament through injury.

Sources have told HITC that Arsenal are interested in signing the hard-hitting defender, and he is enjoying his tournament so far.

Paul Merson feels Guehi has been one of very few positives for the Three Lions and he has been ‘outstanding’ for his country.

England have produced two questionable performances and there has been a lot of pressure on the team during these opening few weeks.

But Merson highlighted the ‘bravery’ of Guehi and how he expects him to secure a transfer away from Palace, as he told Football’s Greatest: Euros

Marc Guehi at Euro 2024 with England

“I think he has been outstanding,” said Merson. “I think it has helped him in a way because England haven’t been great, so we haven’t been on top and we are playing on the halfway line and we are dominating football matches.

“It has been a bit like Crystal Palace. Teams have had a go at us. He has blocked shots and he has been kept busy because we haven’t been great. That’s not my worry with Marc Guehi because I think he is a good defender.

“My worry will be if we were dominating football matches, then it’s about your concentration levels. You don’t have to have that concentration level at Palace, no disrespect. But you are always up against it at Palace. Teams are always attacking. When you play for England or one of the big boys, you might have nothing to do for 10-15 minutes, and all of a sudden, bang! You fall asleep. He will get a move. He will get a move. He is a good player. A good defender. He is brave. Gets on with his job. I wouldn’t like to play against him because he won’t take a chance.”

Marc Guehi since leaving Chelsea

The 21-year-old left Chelsea in 2021 after failing to play for the club, but he didn’t allow that to bring him down.

He has picked himself up, is one of Palace’s key players and deserves to start regularly for England at Euro 2024.

You also feel that Guehi is now ready to take that step up again and secure a transfer to a team in Europe or the Champions League.

Arsenal are keen, but it’s going to be interesting to see if they push for his talents because he would enhance their squad.
