England midfielder Kalvin Phillips has told reporters he would prefer to have Liverpool target Jude Bellingham over Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, ahead of his country’s World Cup quarter-final tie against France.

The £49,000-a-week wonderkid has lit up proceedings in Qatar with his all-encompassing displays.

In the Three Lions’ latest 3-0 drubbing of Senegal, Bellingham was far and away the best player on the pitch.

As a result, one can fully understand why the Reds consider the coveted midfielder as their “main target” next summer (via Fabrizio Romano).

It seems as if the Merseyside-based club could snag their top priority in the transfer market as well.

Bild reporter Christian Falk has revealed (via the Anfield Wrap) that the World Cup phenom himself wishes to join Liverpool, as he feels he could become a leader at the club.

Falk has also mentioned how the player’s family are the keenest on a switch to Liverpool as well.

And it seems Kalvin Phillips is fully on board with what makes his England teammate such a special player.

Bellingham over Haaland and Mbappe, in Phillips’ books

The Manchester City man admits he would start Jude Bellingham over Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in a classic game of ‘start, sell, bench.’

“I’d start…Oh my god! I’m going to have to say I’d start Jude.”

“Love Erling. But I reckon, if he came off the bench, he’d still get a hat-trick anyway. And then sell Mbappe because he’d probably get the most money so…”, he said via Guardian Sport.

High praise from the Sky Blues ace

First things first, just let the fact sink in that despite Kalvin Phillips training day in and day out with the incredible Erling Haaland, he chose to start Jude Bellingham.

And then consider how the ex-Leeds hero also decided to sell arguably the best player in the world in Kylian Mbappe for the sake of the Liverpool target.

Despite being just 19 years of age, it’s clear to see that those that have played with Bellingham realise that he is cut from a special cloth.
