Tottenham Hotspur have produced another absorbing and entertaining Premier League campaign.

Many might like to bang out about the lack of trophies at the club in recent times, but one thing that is never missing is the entertainment, both on and off the field.

On Saturday, Tottenham kept their Champions League hopes alive after their narrow 2-1 win over Burnley.

Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven were the goalscorers, just like they were during the recent win over Nottingham Forest and it certainly delighted the home crowd.

Ange Postecoglou will be pleased that his defenders are showcasing this side of the game because it’s proving to be very valuable.

Back in the summer, Tottenham put £43 million down on the table for van de Ven’s qualities and now they are getting their worth.

Tim Sherwood is certainly impressed by what he is seeing from the 23-year-old centre-back and ‘what a find’ he has been for Spurs, as he told Premier League Productions (11/05/24 at 5:10 pm).

Even though the Netherlands international has been at the club for less than 12 months, he is already one of Postecoglou’s key players because of how he fits into his manager’s fearless, expansive and attacking style of play.

Sherwood spoke in glowing terms about the speedster’s goal against Burnley and how he also thinks that van de Ven is Tottenhm’s Player of the Season.

Micky van de Ven Tottenham’s Player of the Season

“That finish is unbelievable, the way he steps and uses O’Shea as a shield, he is a big guy 6ft5 and has good footwork, he knows that the goalkeeper has absolutely no chance because he sees it too late,” said Sherwood.

“But the way he opens up that space around O’Shea. It’s a brilliant finish from Micky van de Ven. As I said, that is the Player of the Season, for me, for Tottenham. What a find he has been.”

Tottenham v Manchester City

It’s the game everyone is talking about because of what is on the line for, not just both teams, but also Arsenal.

Arsenal recorded a 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday to ensure this nerve-racking and enthralling Premier League title race will go to the final day of the season.

But Mikel Arteta’s side could get a helping hand from their rivals, if they manage to get anything from that Manchester City match on Tuesday night.

What makes things more interesting is that, if Aston Villa lose to Liverpool on Monday night, then finishing fourth will be in the hands of Spurs, so they have that to play for.

But you can’t fault the ardent Tottenham supporter for not caring one jot about that all because they just don’t want to see their bitter rivals become champions of England.
