Ian Wright would have been watching on as a bag of nerves as Arsenal recorded an important 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.
Going into the match, Mikel Arteta knew his team had no choice but to claim all three points to keep their Premier League title hopes alive.
Manchester City beat Fulham 4-0 the day before to, not only send out a statement of intent, but to put the pressure back on Arsenal.
In moments like this, you need your big players to step up, stick their chests out and showcase their worth.
Arteta has a fully-fit squad to pick from, so you know the majority of personnel that are going to play, with very few places up for grabs.
One of those positions is the left-hand side of the attack. In recent times, Arteta has been pushing for and starting Leandro Trossard over Gabriel Martinelli.
The Belgium international proved why he is in the XI after a darting run at the near post saw him poke home Arsenal’s opening goal in the first half – the Gunners took home the points and now it’s over to you Tottenham ahead of their clash against Manchester City on Tuesday night.
Ian Wright was lauding Trossard before the game and when he scored that goal, he stated ‘he is our best finisher’, as he told Premier League Productions (12/05/24 at 5:30 pm).
Trossard proceeded to play just over an hour, before his manager switched things up and brought on Martinelli.
What also needs to be noted is that Trossard’s goal came after he got the better of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is known for his strong defending, so it made it that little bit better.
Leandro Trossard scores again for Arsenal
“The goal came from a mistake and what Arsenal have been very good at this season is being very ruthless,” said Wright.
“Leandro Trossard, who we spoke about before, there are so many mistakes from a Manchester United perspective – you look at Trossard coming across and that’s what he has been doing, in respect of getting in there and finishing it off.
“You saw the way and the manner in which he attacked that box. That’s his thing, finishing. I would be interested to see how many touches of his are one-touch finishes when he is coming in because he is crashing the box. He is coming with Wan-Bissaka, who I was surprised wasn’t tighter. But he’s coming in and getting ahead of somebody like that, who is very good at man-marking. I think he is our best finisher at Arsenal. You can see that with his numbers. This is why he is playing instead of Martinelli. We know Martinelli has the pace to hurt teams, but Trossard has that cuteness, that movement and finishing ability that is vital in games like this.”

Leandro Trossard’s numbers
It was well-documented at the time, but Arsenal didn’t even want to buy Trossard in the first place.
Their first choice was a certain Mykhailo Mudryk, who whilst he has shown some improvement under Mauricio Pochettino, has struggled most of his time at Chelsea.

But Arsenal fans won’t care one jot. They have Trossard on their books, for a much smaller transfer fee and a better all-round player.
That’s now 12 Premier League goals from the player when he hasn’t even been a regular starter, so it makes it even more interesting.
On only three occasions this season has Trossard completed 90 minutes in the Premier League, so that proves just how ruthless he is in front of goal.
