Manchester United want to sign Harry Kane in the summer transfer window, and Eric Dier’s verdict on the former Tottenham Hotspur striker shows why Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants him at Old Trafford.
Eric Dier played with Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur and is also an England international teammate of the 30-year-old striker.
Dier joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham in the January transfer window, while Kane switched to the German club from Spurs in the summer of 2023. The striker is earning £480,000-a-week (The Athletic) salary at the Bavarian giants.
HITC reported in February that Manchester United are determined to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window and have “a concrete interest” in Kane.

Minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, INEOS and Sir Dave Brailsford are looking at how to make the squad better and more competitive.
Sources have told HITC that although United are happy with young striker Rasmus Hojlund, they want a more experienced frontman. The Red Devils have identified Kane as “the ideal” player and will try their best to get a deal done.
Eric Dier praises Manchester United target Harry Kane
Dier told The Times about Kane: “Harry’s the best finisher in the world. Aside from [Lionel] Messi, I don’t know if there’s a better left-footed finisher, even from a left-footed player, than Harry.
“And there’s his hold-up play, very good in the air, awareness and the way he turns especially when he’s on the left side of the pitch and turns inside on to his right foot.”
My View: Harry Kane signing would be massive for Manchester United
In my opinion, Harry Kane would be one of the best signings in Manchester United’s recent history.
I do not think that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners will be able to sign the striker in the summer transfer window, but I have no doubt that the 30-year-old would make Erik ten Hag’s side very potent in attack.
Kane is a world-class striker. He is a goal machine. Even during a season when Bayern Munich are not doing well, the 30-year-old is going on about his business efficiently.
The England international striker has scored 33 goals and given nine assists in 33 matches in all competitions for Bayern this season.
The striker scored 213 goals and gave 46 assists in 320 appearances in the Premier League.
