Under the stewardship of Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham play one of the most fearless and exciting brands of football in the Premier League.

Yes, it does have its disadvantages, but there are also many plus points, which fans have been able to see throughout this season.

The defenders that are used in Tottenham’s high-line require certain qualities to be selected to play and succeed  – one of them includes, pace!

Micky van de Ven has that in abundance, in fact, he has been clocked as the fastest player in the Premier League today.

When Conor Coady was building his dream Premier League centre-back, he was sure to include Tottenham’s flying Dutchman, as he told Premier League Productions (19/02/24 at 11:20 pm).

The former England defender thinks it’s ‘unbelievable’ what the £43 million signing has been doing and how he has been a ‘fantastic’ capture for the club.

That’s why when the ‘pace’ category for Conor Coady’s dream centre-back was on the table, he only had one player in mind.

Micky van de Ven’s pace

“I went for van de Ven at Tottenham,” said Coady. “I think he has been an outstanding signing.

“We were talking about a profile of a centre-back these days, but look at where the line is for Tottenham and he has that pace to get back.

“If you are going to play that way, and how Tottenham have recruited in terms of buying him, you mentioned before about signings of the season. He would be right up there. He really, really will. It’s unbelievable. He has been a fantastic signing for Tottenham.”

Tottenham chasing Champions League football

Yes, Spurs made some very good signings in the summer and the arrival of Postecoglou from Celtic excited fans.

But when Harry Kane left days before the new Premier League season started, it left a bitter taste in the mouth of fans and they would have been fearing the worst.

Fast forward to the present and they are probably ahead of schedule, in terms of chasing Champions League football.

A lot of that is down to players like van de Ven, who have taken to the Premier League stage like a duck to water, alongside the likes of Guglielmo Vicario.
