Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur could argue that they play some of the most attacking football in the Premier League.
That high line is equally a joy to watch, as well as nail-biting for the Spurs fans, but they wouldn’t have it any other way.
To play in such a manner, Tottenham need the right personnel in place and that’s where Micky van de Ven comes into the picture.
The flying Dutchman has recorded the quickest sprint ever recorded in the Premier League this season, as he clocked in at an incredible 37.38 km/h.
Jay Bothroyd thinks Spurs have their own version of Manchester City’s speed machine Kyle Walker and somebody who has that ‘recovery pace’ to play so high up the pitch, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports.
Of course, those in north London got to witness Kyle Walker don their colours before he secured a move to Manchester City in 2017.
Imagine the duo in the same team, now that would have been something, either way, Micky van de Ven was described as someone who is ‘absolutely key’ to Tottenham, both going forward and when defending.
Micky van de Ven’s speed
“I was looking at some of his stats,” said Bothroyd. “He played 14 games at the start of the season, with him, the win ratio is 64%, without him, it’s 44%.
“Because Ange wants to play that press and that high line, even when the ball is played over, he has got the pace to make that recovery run. We have seen that before with Kyle Walker at Manchester City, he has that recovery pace.
“I think it’s great that he is left-footed as well, so he can feed that ball out to Udogie and Maddison as well. Having him back now is going to bring that solidity to the defence because he is absolutely key to them when it’s attacking and defending.”

Micky van de Ven’s return
The one thing Spurs fans will be hoping for is van de Ven to remain injury-free and for Cristian Romero to try to stay out of the referee’s book.
If the centre-back duo can do that, then it increases Spurs’ chance of picking up the points and ending the season in a very strong manner.
Two points separate the fifth-placed side and Unai Emery’s Aston Villa in fourth. This fight will go down to the final few weeks of the season.
But, most importantly, the meeting between the two on March 9 is now going to be absolutely massive and could prove to be the game that decides everything in the race for Champions League football.
