Tottenham Hotspur plan to focus on signing a new striker alongside a centre back during the upcoming January transfer window.

Johan Lange will prioritise signing a new striker as Tottenham Hotspur plan for the January transfer window.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Tottenham held a number of transfer meetings last week.

Tottenham made a blistering start to the season but have now lost three games in a row amid a number of injuries and suspensions.

This has exposed Tottenham’s lack of depth and Spurs will seemingly look to bring in a couple of January signing.

Tottenham Hotspur want a new striker in January

New technical director Johan Lange is understood to be focusing his attention on signing a new centre back and a striker.

Reports from the Daily Mail suggest that Tottenham held transfer meetings last week and most of them surrounded defensive and attacking additions.

We know that Spurs want another centre back to support Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, but another striker is now wanted too.

Tottenham did sign Alejo Veliz in August but the Argentinian is more of a long-term project than somebody who can make an instant impact.

Richarlison is being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and with Son Heung-min now playing as a striker, Lange could target another forward.

Who could Tottenham sign up front?

Ange Postecoglou may fancy signing a physical centre forward having utilised the likes of Giorgos Giakoumakis and Oh Hyeon-gyu at Celtic.

Mexico striker Santiago Gimenez appears to be a top target for Spurs having spotted him whilst analysing his Feyenoord boss Arne Slot.

Hailed as ‘really fast’ by Dirk Kuyt, Gimenez has hit 16 goals in just 13 Eredivisie games this season and the 22-year-old appears to be a top striking talent.

Tottenham would have to pay considerable money for Gimenez in January, so Lange will surely have other options in mind.

Jonathan David’s form has slipped since Tottenham’s summer interest whilst Evan Ferguson is likely to be too expensive.

Gent talent Gift Orban is another name on Tottenham’s radar after strong summer interest in the Nigerian, but we would make Gimenez the favourite if Tottenham are willing to dig deep.
