Jose Enrique has expressed his anger on Instagram at Liverpool’s lack of spending under FSG after Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United secured the transfer of Rasmus Højlund.
The former Liverpool player claimed, even though Erik ten Hag is entering his second season at Manchester United, he has already outspent his rival at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp.
It has been well-documented over the years that those at Old Trafford have spent, spent and spent, but not really reached their destination of wanting to win the Premier League title again.
In previous years, they have always signed experienced strikers, but now, they have put £72 million down on the table for a 20-year-old striker from Atalanta in Rasmus Højlund, as reported by Sky Sports.
In comparison, over on Merseyside, Klopp was in need of midfield players this summer. Two of them arrived in next to no time, Alexis Mac Allister and Dminik Szoboszlai – but since then, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have departed.
You would expect the powers that be to put their hands in their pockets and bring more midfield players in, as well as bulking up the defence, which Enrique has previously called for, but he isn’t seeing it, as he issued the following message in the comments section of his own Instagram post about ten Hag outspending Klopp.

“It’s incredible that we have one of the best managers in the world and FSG is not giving him money to spend,” said Enrique.
“And more is needed this summer than we have needed ever before.”
FSG without Klopp
The day Klopp walks out of the door, it will be interesting to see who replaces him and how FSG operate – that’s if they still own the club.
Have they backed Klopp over the years? Yes, he can’t argue about that. But others will claim that they haven’t backed him like both Manchester clubs have spent, Chelsea, or even more recently under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal.
All in all, after missing out on Champions League football, if Liverpool falter again this forthcoming campaign, then it’s going to be interesting to see what the reaction will be like, both from within and from outside of Anfield.
