Former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has labelled Jordan Henderson’s message to the Liverpool fans as ‘incredible’ following his transfer to Saudi Arabia side, Al-Ettifaq.

The 32-year-old, who came through Manchester United’s academy, even joked ‘it even brought a tear to a Manc’, as Jordan Henderson ended his 12-year association with the club.

The now-departed Liverpool captain told the Anfield faithful on Instagram that ‘I will always be a Red until I die’ during an emotional video message – Jamie Carragher issued a two-word response to it all.

Brighton star Danny Welbeck also dropped a message in the comments section and the former Manchester United man wrote: ‘Incredible bro. Even brought a tear to a Manc.”

Henderson now reunites with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard in the Middle East, as the Saudi Pro League continue to grow at a fast rate.

There could yet be another departee from Merseyside because Fabinho is also closing on a move to Saudi Arabia.

Whilst James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s exits this summer were expected, the above duo weren’t planning to go, nor were Liverpool looking to move them on.

Henderson won it all at Liverpool

Not many Liverpool captains, a certain Gerrard being one, can claim to have won the lot as a captain of the Merseyside giants, but Henderson can.

That’s why he will go down as a club legend, and as the years go by, his legacy will only grow.

It will be interesting to see who Jurgen Klopp turns to regarding his next captain because that individual will have a big void to fill.
