Darren Bent has said that Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason merits praise for coaching his side towards coming back from two goals down to rescue a 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
Journalist David Ornstein claimed on Friday that Spurs would consider appointing the 31-year-old on a permanent basis if he leads his side to a splendid end to a drab season.
While there is a question mark over whether Tottenham Hotspur will actually bring Ryan Mason on board as their full-time manager, pundit Darren Bent has lavished praise on to him.
Darren Bent raves about Tottenham caretaker manager Ryan Mason
While some believe Mason would be far too inexperienced for such a role, talkSPORT presenter Jim White said that he has been informed by those close him about his ‘ruthlessness’ when it comes to taking big calls.
Branded as ‘intelligent’ by All Football, the young coach kicked off his second stint on a temporary basis in style with his side coming back against Erik ten Hag’s side and perhaps being unfortunate not to have won.
Darren Bent admired what he saw from Ryan Mason during his first game in charge as Tottenham Hotspur interim manager.

“I think Ryan Mason would’ve said something. The players wouldn’t just sat there and gone, ‘Irrelevant of what Ryan wants, we’re just going to do what we want to do.’
“But at the end of the day, Ryan had to change things, they had to put a performance in, they had stunk the place out in the first half and he deserves credit. As I said, you’ve got to give him some portion of credit and a bit of praise because if they’d had got smashed, he would’ve got 100% of the blame”, he said on talkSPORT.
HITC View: Fair point but Ryan Mason should not get the Spurs job
Darren Bent is right in saying that while Ryan Mason certainly got a performance out of Tottenham during his first match at the helm as caretaker manager, the club should steer clear of appointing him.
Spurs find themselves in a difficult position as an institution after failed managerial appointments, a lack of a tactical identity and coaches seemingly being fed up with the poor recruitment.
As a result, a more seasoned manager’s arrival could not be overstated in N17.
