Journalist David Ornstein has said that there is a possibility that Tottenham Hotspur could hand Ryan Mason the job as permanent manager in the summer.

The 31-year-old’s debut as Spurs boss was a success, as his unfancied side rescued a 2-2 draw against Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.

As Tottenham Hotspur continue to get linked with a new manager on a daily basis, it seems like Ryan Mason could end up being the answer.

David Ornstein names Ryan Mason as potential next Tottenham manager

The renowned journalist has previously claimed that the young coach is a ‘very popular candidate’ in N17 and is seen as one with the potential of taking major strides in the managerial world.

Mason’s previous spell as caretaker boss for his boyhood club was characterised by him being given the keys to manage the Lilywhites in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City; a game where they were utterly dominated in a 1-0 defeat.

As Ryan Mason has become the interim manager of Tottenham once again, David Ornstein has said that he could well be an outsider for the role.

“He’s a young figure, who is highly regarded as an emerging coach, whether it is going to be at Tottenham or elsewhere. And if he gives Tottenham a spectacular end to the season, there’s nothing to say he won’t come under consideration”, he told the FIVE YouTube channel.

“Even though, he is very young and he doesn’t have a coaching staff around him.”

Whether Tottenham fans will be happy about the remote possibility of Ryan Mason becoming their next manager is another conversation.

HITC View: Spurs would be making a naïve decision by appointing Ryan Mason

Perhaps Mason could well be a wonderkid in the coaching scene and may be destined for big things in the game.

However, for a club that has so much to resolve in the summer and beyond, Tottenham need a much more experienced manager than Ryan Mason in charge.

From a figurehead who can challenge the board to invest into the squad to one that can implement a clear tactical ideology and more.

If not, this would be an appointment that reeks of when Manchester United brought in Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who performed in spells but on the whole, it would be a stretch to call his time at the club a success.
