The Daily Mail have reported that Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are eyeing a swoop for Chelsea striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang in the summer.

The £160,000-a-week goalscorer has had a rough time of things at Stamford Bridge ever since his arrival, with Thomas Tuchel, who initially signed him shown the door and then proceeding to become out of favour under Graham Potter.

So much so that it has been reported that the ex-Arsenal frontman, who Ray Parlour said Mikel Arteta had ‘pushed out’ of London Colney could well make a return to Barcelona as soon as in the summer.

However, the Daily Mail have reported that Chelsea hitman Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, who was also linked with a shock transfer to Aston Villa has caught the eye of both Atletico Madrid and AC Milan.

In fact, both European giants were interested in signing the 33-year-old in January but FIFA regulations meant he could not join a third club in the same campaign.

However, it seems like Atletico Madrid and AC Milan have now spotted the chance to sign Aubameyang from Chelsea in the summer, after it was confirmed that the player had been omitted from the side’s Champions League squad.

With the arrivals of attacking signings such as Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke in the winter market, and with Christopher Nkunku also set to sign for the club in the summer, his future is in doubt.

A move that makes sense for all parties involved

Clearly, Todd Boehly is aiming to build a young and talented squad for the future, which does not seem to include a player such as the Gabonese international, who was once described as a ‘jewel’ of a person by Xavi (as relayed by Football.London).

Keeping that in mind, it is best for Chelsea, either Atletico Madrid or AC Milan and of course, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang if a transfer gets over the line.

The once-prolific striker’s return to English football has been a sad state of affairs to say the least.
