Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could’ve been forgiven for believing that Arsenal would be his last football club in the Premier League, not Chelsea.

The Gabon international was a roaring success during his four-year spell at the Emirates Stadium for the most part and reached 50 goals for the club quicker than Thierry Henry, illustrating how brilliant he was at one point.

However, Aubameyang progressively struggled under Mikel Arteta, who exiled him from the squad last December before ultimately terminating his contract in January, with the player signing for Barcelona on a Bosman.

The 33-year-old hitman probably thought Arsenal were going to be his last club in England, evident by a big decision he made six months before leaving.

Aubameyang has a tattoo of his time at the North London club, a picture of him wearing an Arsenal shirt and walking with his children through the Emirates Stadium tunnel before a game.

So the fact that Aubameyang is now a Chelsea player following a £10.7 million [Sky] deadline day transfer to Stamford Bridge might be considered a little strange to his new teammates, given that the Blues are among the Gunners’ biggest rivals.

It’s bound to be a talking point in the Cheslea dressing room but being the sort of character that he is, the former Borussia Dortmund marksman – who’s played under Thomas Tuchel before – will take all the banter in his stride no doubt.

The former Gooner has 68 Premier League goals in 128 appearances in this competition.
