Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told the club’s official website that Gabriel Martinelli can still develop and improve his game.

Arteta made the comments about Martinelli in the wake of the Arsenal forward signing a new contract with the Gunners.

The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with the Gunners.

Arsenal manager Arteta is obviously happy, but he has made it clear that Martinelli, who will now earn £180,000 per week as salary (The Sun journalist Daniel Cutts on Twitter), can still develop his game.

Mikel Arteta on Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli

Arteta said about Martinelli: “It’s great news. We want to build all the talent and youth that we have in the squad, so it’s great to see them happy and willing to commit to the club and what we want to do for the future.

“He’s a player with enormous potential – he still has so many things to improve but he’s already performing at a really high level.”

The Arsenal boss added: “In all departments. He can develop physically. He can develop mentally. He can develop in terms of consistency.

“He can develop defensively. He can develop in the final third and in the spaces that he occupies. His numbers can be improved, and he’s so willing. That’s the best thing about Gabi.”

Getting better

In our opinion, Gabriel Martinelli will get better and improve in the coming years, and that is frightening.

The Arsenal forward is already one of the best young players in the world.

After all, the 21-year-old was called up to the Brazil squad for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

And we know that Brazil have abundance of attacking talent.

The Arsenal no. 11 has scored seven goals and given two assists in 19 Premier League matches so far this season.

Martinelli has also made three starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League for Mikel Arteta’s side so far this campaign.

The 21-year-old has scored 18 goals and created 14 big chances in 76 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
