Arsenal are now close to signing another Tottenham target in Jakub Kiwior after beating their north London rivals to Leandro Trossard.
What’s the story?
Well, it was Sky Sports who claimed that Spurs had moved on to other targets after the Gunners struck a deal with Brighton for Trossard.
Now, Arsenal have outdone their rivals once again as they close in on Kiwior.
According to Polish news outlet Meczyki, the Gunners are in advanced talks with Spezia over a deal for the Poland international, after both sides agreed a fee in the region of €20m (£18m).
It comes after AS in Spain claimed that Tottenham wanted to sign Kiwior as Antonio Conte seeks defensive reinforcements.
Shortly after Meczyki broke the news, Fabrizio Romano – arguably the most reliable journalist around when it comes to transfers – reinforced the story by saying a deal should be finalised soon.
You can see the Italian’s tweet on the matter below.
With most of the focus on Trossard, this deal truly has emerged from out of nowhere.
Tottenham will envy Arsenal as deal for Kiwior nears
In our view, Tottenham will be more annoyed about missing out on Kiwior than Trossard.
Spurs desperately need a new centre-back as the likes of Clement Lenglet, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier struggle to prove themselves as consistently reliable options at the back.

In Kiwior, Tottenham would have got themselves one of the hottest young defensive prodigies in Europe right now, with the 22-year-old already shining for club and country despite his age.
It remains to be seen how Mikel Arteta uses the Polish colossus, as he already has Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Rob Holding as centre-back options.
Nevertheless, Kiwior is a superb talent, and Arsenal fans should certainly be excited about this deal.
