Leeds United are now prepared to make Coventry City an opening offer for the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres. But Everton and Brentford are also planning January raids for the striker.

That is according to TEAMtalk, which reports the Whites are now stepping up their pursuit to bolster Jesse Marsch’s offence. The Elland Road side accept they must add an attacking option to support top-scorer Rodrigo with Patrick Bamford struggling for form and fitness.

However, the Toffees and Bees are also positioning themselves in the race for Gyokeres’ services. Frank Lampard wants the Sweden international to help fire Everton clear of the Premier League relegation zone. While Brentford see Gyokeres as an heir for Ivan Toney.

The Gtech Community Stadium outfit are aware that they may need a long-term successor to Toney soon. So, Frank could look to snap Gyokeres up in January as the 24-year-old has scored 12 goals in 25 Championship games this term. He has also laid on one assist so far.

Leeds are ready to test Coventry’s resolve and bid for Gyokeres’ transfer

Leeds, though, will pose a serious threat to Brentford and Everton’s interest in the transfer of Coventry star Gyokeres. Yet the Toffees are keen on the Sky Blues ace as they feel he is a more realistic target than Blackburn Rovers ace Ben Brereton Diaz amid their promotion bid.

So, Leeds chiefs are drawing up a £14m offer for Gyokeres, whom Coventry value at £18m. Sky Blues boss Mark Robins is also loath to see his star striker leave the Coventry Building Society Arena in January. But he privately accepts Coventry will struggle to reject a big bid.

Leeds have already held talks with Coventry to sound out a potential transfer for Gyokeres in January, per 90min. They, plus Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton and Wolves, have each enquired over his availability. While talkSPORT also cites the Sky Blues’ valuation at £20m.

Gyokeres only cost Coventry £1m when he finalised a permanent transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2021. But his efforts since – which saw Robins praise his ‘unbelievable ability – power, technique’ last year – has added millions to the striker’s value to the team.
