Coventry City boss Mark Robins has issued a firm response to clubs interested in a transfer for Viktor Gyokeres. Everton and Leeds United have held talks over the forward’s services.

The 24-year-old has emerged as a target for an array of Premier League teams having lit up the Championship. Gyokeres and Chuba Akpom are the joint top scorers in the second-tier so far this season with 12 goals. The pair have taken 24 and 18 games to strike their tallies.

Gyokeres also accounts for 46% of the Sky Blues’ haul having only hit 26 goals as a team in 24 games. While his form follows netting 17 and creating a further five goals in 45 fixtures last season. Coventry paid Brighton & Hove Albion £1m for the Sweden striker in July 2021.

Everton and Leeds have held talks with Coventry over Viktor Gyokeres’ transfer

Now, talkSPORT reports Coventry value the forward at £20m as Robins strives to ward off interest from Brentford, Everton and Wolves in Gyokeres’ transfer. The Toffees were also keen on the 11-cap ace back in the summer, per Fotboll Direkt, after they sold Richarlison.

But 90min, which also cites Everton’s interest, notes Brentford, Crystal Palace, Leeds and Wolves have also now held talks with Coventry over Gyokeres’ transfer. The sextet of top-flight teams have all strived to sound out if Robins would let the 6 ft 1 marksman depart.

Mark Robins has issued a firm response to clubs enquiring about Viktor Gyokeres

Unfortunately for those keen on Gyokeres, Robins has now issued a firm response to talk of his striker leaving Coventry in the January transfer window. The Sky Blues boss has held talks with the forward over his future and is in no mood to see him walk away next month.

“Viktor is going nowhere,” Robins insisted to Coventry Live. “I can tell you now he is going nowhere in January. Absolutely no chance. I’ve spoken to Vik.”

The aforementioned Premier League teams, including Everton and Leeds, interested in the transfer of Gyokeres from Coventry all need to sign strikers in January. Anthony Gordon is the Toffees’ top-scorer in the top-flight this term with only three goals in 15 games so far.

Frank Lampard’s current strikers, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Neal Maupay, have also only hit one goal each. While at Elland Road, Jesse Marsch has seen Rodrigo hit the back of the net nine times. But the 31-year-old can struggle to offer a consistent attacking presence.
