Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have been linked with Nicolo Zaniolo, but the AS Roma playmaker’s reported stance on a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window will disappoint the Gunners and the Magpies.
Zaniolo reportedly does not fancy a move to Arsenal or Newcastle and would prefer to stay in Serie A.
Arsenal and Newcastle linked with Nicolo Zaniolo
Radio Radio in Italy reported in December that Arsenal want sign the Italy international attacking midfielder and could make a bid of €25 million (£22 million) in the January transfer window.
Roma Giallorossa subsequently claimed that Arsenal have made contact with the Italian club for the 23-year-old, described as “extraordinary” by head coach Jose Mourinho on the club’s YouTube channel in August 2022.
Radio Radio have reported that Newcastle have been chasing Zaniolo for months and are considering a January move.

Nicolo Zaniolo stance
Calciomercato have also reported that Newcastle want to sign the youngster.
However, according to the report, Zaniolo wants to stay at Roma, and if he is to leave the Italian club, then he would prefer to remain in Serie A.
This will come as a blow for Arsenal and Newcastle.
Now, of course, players do change their minds, but it seems that the Gunners and the Magpies will have to work extremely hard to secure the services of Zaniolo.
