As per the latest information provided by journalist Mario Cortegana, Liverpool target Enzo Fernandez may no longer be a transfer priority for Real Madrid.

Recently, it has been reported by Liverpool Echo that the Premier League giants are interested in signing one of the World Cup’s breakout stars.

Even Sky Sports reported in the summer that Jurgen Klopp’s men were eyeing the signature of the 21-year-old in 2023, described as “spectacular” by the great Lionel Messi.

While Fabrizio Romano ruled out a January move for the youngster with a £103.5 million release clause, there was no mention from him about whether the in-demand starlet would stay at Benfica in the summer.

Interestingly, it has been recently reported that Carlo Ancelotti’s side were eyeing the midfield dynamo’s addition as an alternative to Jude Bellingham (via Record), as they were worried he would join the Reds, according to Marca.

Los Blancos may drop out of Fernandez race

As per an update provided by journalist Mario Cortegana (via Four Amigos podcast), Real Madrid may not consider the signing of Enzo Fernandez as one of their top priorities in the transfer market.

However, it is key to highlight that there was no mention of whether the Champions League winners have done so as they wish to go all out in their attempts to beat Liverpool to sign Bellingham.

This is a welcome update for Liverpool

Much like how the world raves about how Jude Bellingham perfectly fits this Reds side, the same can be said for Enzo Fernandez.

The gifted No.8 provides a blend of technical ability and defensive steel that is needed in the Liverpool midfield, with Jordan Henderson and James Milner failing to cut the mustard anymore.

And a potential Fernandez and Thiago partnership would be a dream for the Kop.

With the Benfica hero also capable of operating in defensive midfield, he would prove to be a cracking signing for Liverpool.

Considering Real Madrid tend to be the dream destination for most players, the Merseyside-based club could now get a clear run at signing one of Europe’s most coveted midfielders.
