Tottenham signed Yves Bissouma from Brighton in a £25m deal back in June, a transfer which many claimed could end up being the signing of the summer.
The Mali international shone on a regular basis for the Seagulls, rising to become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and eventually tempting Spurs to snap him up.
However, a statistical analysis from WhoScored shows that Bissouma’s move to N17 has not exactly worked out yet.
Bissouma declines after Tottenham move
Well, the 26-year-old is yet to show his best form at Tottenham.
Before today’s clash with Leeds, Bissouma had only started six Premier League games so far this season from a possible 14, and WhoScored have now compared his average rating from last term to the current campaign.
As you can see, the Tottenham No.38 is 0.72 worse off than he was in the 2021/22 campaign, making him the second largest decline behind Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is 0.73 worse off.
It comes after Antonio Conte told Football London that Bissouma is a “step behind” Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur, as he needs to learn how things work at Spurs.
Fabrizio Romano also claimed that the Malian is desperately trying to impress the Italian in training at Hotspur Way, as he attempts to become a regular starter.
Alasdair Gold of Football London added that Bissouma’s lack of starts is “very strange” and he can only assume that the midfielder is not performing in training.

Whatever the reason, there is no doubt that the £25m man is yet to bring his Brighton form to north London.
Tottenham must get Bissouma firing
One frequent complaint about Tottenham under Conte is a lack of adventure in their attacking play.
The midfield duo of Bentancur and Hojbjerg can often struggle to break down a deep lying opponent, although Bissouma is someone who can move defenders around with his dribbling skills, pace and bravery on the ball.
If Conte can get him back to how he was performing under Graham Potter, it could solve a major issue in regards to creativity at Tottenham.
