Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that Yves Bissouma needs to work hard, adding that he is a step behind fellow midfielders Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Conte has said that Tottenham midfielder Bissouma needs to work hard to understand how he wants his football to be played.
The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss has added that the 26-year-old Mali international has room to improve and could understand his position better.
Bissouma moved to Tottenham from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old has made one start and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season.
Antonio Conte on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma
Conte told Football.London about Bissouma: “He needs to work, he needs to work.
“He needs to go totally into our idea of football. For sure he is a step behind Bentancur and Hojbjerg, but also the same for Skipp as Skippy worked with me all of last season.

“I’m pleased with what I have seen during the game. We are talking about a player with good skills, strong physically and a good engine.
“At the same time he has a lot of space for improvement and he can improve to become a thinking player because in that position is important to understand what the team needs with the ball, without the ball.
“We are talking about a player that for sure is a good signing for us and he can help us a lot.”
Getting better
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma will only get better in the coming weeks and months.
We already know that the Malian is a very good midfielder who was a huge success at Brighton.
Brighton and Tottenham play football differently, so it is understandable why Bissouma is taking time to adjust at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Conte’s comments suggest that the Tottenham boss thinks that the 26-year-old will eventually get there.
