Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are challengers for the Premier League title this season, as quoted in London World.
Guardiola has said that Arsenal are the main candidates for the Premier League title, and believes that the Gunners’ bitter North London clubs Tottenham could go all the way as well.
Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League table with 31 points from 12 matches, two point clear of second-placed and defending champions Manchester City.
Tottenham are currently third in the standings with 26 points from 13 games.
Pep Guardiola on Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur title challenge
Guardiola said: “I would say Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham, United and Liverpool. I think these teams can fight for the title.”
The former Barcelona boss added: “The first candidate at the moment is Arsenal. Why? Because they’re top of the league and the rest are close.
“So let’s see how we finish these next two games [before the World Cup] but I think many of these teams deserve to be there, we see how they play all of then, how teams like United, Newcastle and Tottenham have taken a step forward. They can be there – no doubts.”

Title challenge from the Gunners and Spurs?
In our opinion, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could challenge for the Premier League title this season.
After all, Manchester City are not running away with the title at the moment and Liverpool may not even finish in the top four.
What the Gunners and Spurs need to do is maintain consistency and get results.
Now, Tottenham are not playing particularly well at the moment, but they are winning matches and grinding out results.
Gabriel Jesus is not in great goalscoring form at the moment, but Arsenal are still finding the back of the net and are winning games.
