Arsenal are keeping an eye on Youri Tielemans with the £40m man yet to sign a new contract at Leicester.
That is according to the Mirror, who believe Mikel Arteta is planning to take advantage of the Belgium international’s contract situation and bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
Tielemans becomes a free agent in July, and is yet to sign a new deal at the King Power Stadium.
Now, Brendan Rodgers has addressed the situation.
Rodgers hopes to keep Tielemans away from Arsenal
Unsurprisingly, the Northern Irishman wants to keep his No.8 away from Arsenal.
As quoted by the Express, Rodgers said: “He’s been a fantastic professional for us and even though he’s in the situation with his contract, he’s never wavered from his mentality and what he gives to the team. Youri provides the team with great knowhow in the game, wonderful player to work with.
“I would love him to sign another deal and continue his journey here at Leicester City. But we will see in the coming months.”

In our view, Rodgers doesn’t sound too optimistic about keeping Tielemans at Leicester.
Arsenal target Tielemans is surely leaving
The situation with Tielemans has not come out of the blue – Leicester fans have been wary of his contract situation for some time.
In our view, if the 25-year-old refused to commit his future to the Foxes while they were fighting for Champions League qualification, he certainly isn’t going to pen a new deal now Leicester sit 18th in the Premier League.
Therefore, Arsenal have a great chance to sign him, although they face competition.
The aforementioned story from the Mirror claims that Newcastle are also interested in Tielemans.
Elsewhere, Barcelona have added him to their transfer shortlist – that is according to Sport.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we expect a fight for Tielemans in 2023.
