According to AS in Spain, Atlético Madrid could now sell Tottenham and Newcastle target Yannick Carrasco after dropping out of the Champions League.
Tottenham or Newcastle could now sign Carrasco
Well, it was Marca who revealed that Spurs were willing to pay £52m for the Belgium international before the September 1st deadline, although Atlético Madrid ignored the offer as they felt it was too late to do business.
Interestingly, Marca add that the Spanish outfit regretted that decision, as Carrasco has only scored two goals in 17 games since that bid was made.
Elsewhere, it was AS who revealed that Newcastle wanted to sign the 29-year-old.
Now, Diego Simeone may be ready to cash in on the Belgian – out of necessity more than desire.
AS believe Atlético Madrid need to raise €30m (£26m) after failing to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League, which nobody at the Wanda Metropolitano saw coming.

Most of the first-team squad will be up for sale this winter, as the Spaniards also needed to raise money in the summer, but failed to make a significant sale.
It is an ongoing problem for Atlético Madrid, and their shock Champions League exit may now see Simeone stripped of his best players – including Carrasco, who was signed from Dalian Yifang for €27m (£23m) in 2020.
Tottenham & Newcastle should think twice
In our view, Atlético Madrid are never going to receive an offer as good as the £52m Tottenham were willing to pay.
Carrasco turns 30 next year, and as aforesaid, he has struggled to find form this season having previously been one of the best players at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The Atlético Madrid No.21 will also have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the current campaign, meaning he will soon be available on the cheap.
Therefore, Tottenham and Newcastle should think twice about spending heavily on Carrasco in January.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Atlético Madrid look set to have a fire sale this winter.
