Fabrizio Romano says Paris Saint-Germain talent Edouard Michut is on his way to Wearside to complete a loan-to-buy move with Sunderland – in a deal that includes a £4.3million clause. Amad Diallo is also close to joining on loan.
Michut, 19, managed seven senior appearances for the French champions last season. Already boasting nine France Under-19 caps, Sunderland are pulling off a real coup to get him on loan – with the addition of a permanent clause.
Reports stated that Sunderland had made an offer to sign Michut. A target for Celtic, Sunderland had bid £2.5million plus add-ons, which was rejected by PSG. Now, it looks as if an agreement has been made with PSG by Sunderland.
Romano reports that alongside Manchester United’s Diallo – who is close to joining on loan – Michut is on his way to Wearside. Romano says that a loan-to-buy deal, with a £4.3million buy option and a sell-on clause has been agreed.
Romano: PSG ace Michut on his way to Sunderland, Diallo deal also close
Michut is clearly a wonderkid-level type of talent. A player to have broken through PSG’s academy to play eight times for the first team, seven of which came last season. His nine caps at France Under-19 level is also exciting for fans.
Not only is it a coup from Sunderland, but it is also a sign that the club are willing to be ambitious in the market. It has been a busy few days, replacing Alex Neil with Tony Mowbray and he is about to welcome two exciting young players.
Michut will provide flair in between the lines, but also offer cover slightly deeper in midfield, too. If his career keeps growing north at Sunderland this season, then there is no doubt the Black Cats will buy him permanently next summer.
