Alex Neil’s Sunderland have had a bid for Celtic target and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Edouard Michut turned down, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported on Twitter that Sunderland have made a bid new bid for PSG youngster Michut.

The Championship club in England have offered €3 million (£2.54 million) plus add-ons for the France Under-19 international.

PSG have turned it down, according to Romano.

Interestingly, defending Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have also been lined with Michut.

Sky Sports reported in July that Celtic were planning to make a bid of £2 million for Michut.

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, Sunderland could still be able to sign Edouard Michut from Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Celtic in the summer transfer window.

That the Black Cats have made a bid suggests that they are more determined than the Hoops to bring in the 19-year-old French midfielder this summer.

Sunderland could now make a new offer for Michut, and it will be interesting to see what PSG do, if indeed they receive another bid from Sunderland.

Michut made five substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for PSG last season, and played once in the league for the French giants in 2020-21.
