Sevilla are set to sign OGC Nice striker Kasper Dolberg on loan, with Brentford and Newcastle United both reportedly interested in the Danish international.

According to Foot Mercato, the former Ajax superstar is set for a medical at Sevilla ahead of a season-long loan move to the UEFA Champions League side, with Dolberg set to be one of two attackers leaving Nice in the coming days alongside Amine Gouiri.

As per the report, Nice signed Dolberg for €20.5m (£17m) back in 2019, yet despite an impressive debut year in France, the Denmark star has yet to hit his former heights, with a loan move to Sevilla having the potential to once again unlock the striker’s frightening potential.

Sevilla were not the only side chasing Dolberg this summer, though, with Brentford and Newcastle both reportedly interested in the 24-year-old centre-forward, yet the Andalusian giants have seemingly managed to get the signing over the line just before Thursday’s deadline.

Hailed by Patrick Vieira as a ‘world-class’ talent, a move to Spain could be perfect for Dolberg at this stage of his career, with Sevilla one of the best sides in the country and once again competing in the Champions League, a competition the striker could thrive in.

Indeed, Dolberg could have been perfect for a Premier League club like Brentford, especially partnered alongside Ivan Toney, yet with Sevilla getting a deal done, the Bees and Newcastle could soon regret not pushing hard enough to sign the Dane should he flourish with the La Liga side.

Dolberg looked to become a world-beater when the forward first broke through at Ajax, yet the striker’s move to France hasn’t gone to plan, with form and injuries playing a part in the attacker’s lacklustre time in Nice, yet signing for Sevilla could give the forward the platform he needs to succeed once again.

The Andalusian club are one of the best in La Liga and have a great record of developing players regardless of their age, and for Dolberg, this alone could help the attacker reach new heights in Spain should the 24-year-old find form in both the domestic game as well as Europe.
