Heavy is the head that wears the crown, right Lille?

Two games into the new season, Les Dogues are already five points adrift of Paris Saint-Germain, their title defence tumbling like a house of cards without Lionel Messi even being unleashed on Ligue 1 defences.

Saturday’s humiliating 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Nice leaves Lille mired in the relegation zone, above only Strasbourg and newly promoted Troyes in the table.

Did we mention the Nice side which cruised to that crushing win at the Stade Pierre Mauroy is now coached by Christophe Galtier, the man who guided Lille to domestic glory last season?

Galtier has taken to life at the Allianz Riviera rather well it seems, a win and a draw out of two games so far.

But with just two weeks of the transfer window remaining, the green-eyed gaffer will be bracing himself for a late-window raid from a man who led his new club to an impressive fifth place finish in 2019/20.

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira could raid Nice for Kasper Dolberg

According to The Sun, Patrick Vieira could turn to Kasper Dolberg as the new Crystal Palace boss looks to add some much-needed bite to an often toothless Eagles front line.

After rolling back the years at Euro 2020 and reminding everyone why he was once dubbed the second coming of Zlatan Ibrahimovic during his time at Ajax, Dolberg has picked up where he left off at the start of 2020/21.

A goal inside two minutes against Lille on Saturday was a sign of things to come.

By the end of the afternoon, Nice had four and Dolberg had two, meaning this most enigmatic of strikers has now scored five times in his past five games for club and country.

“He’s a world-class player,” Vieira said of Dolberg during their time together on the other side of the Channel.

“You can see it in his runs, his first touch, how he gets in front of his man for crosses. We need to work hard to get the most out of him. He is a hard worker on the pitch.”

Vieira will have to go through Galtier – not to mention the UK’s richest man – if he’s serious about reuniting with this “world class” centre-forward at Selhurst Park.
