Last week, Napoli beat Everton to the signing of Tanguy Ndombele on a season-long loan from Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, the France international was said to have rejected a move to Goodison Park in favour of joining the Italian giants, who have an option to turn the deal permanent for £26m.

Now, Ndombele has surely made Everton feel even more upset about missing out.

Last night, on his unofficial debut for Napoli – a friendly against Juve Stabia – the Frenchman scored a phenomenal goal to open the scoring in the 57th minute.

Ndombele made one Juve Stabia player look like a statue with a smart first touch, before using the bounce on the ball to thump a seriously powerful strike into the back of the net.

It was a sign of the talent which convinced Tottenham to spend £53.8m on the 25-year-old back in 2019.

Napoli went on to win 3-0 last night, and Ndombele couldn’t have made a better first impression in Naples after decided to reject Everton in favour of the Serie A side.

Everton can bounce back from Tanguy Ndombele rejection

In our view, nobody at Goodison Park would even think twice about Ndombele if they can secure one of Frank Lampard’s targets before the September 1st deadline – Conor Gallagher.

The Toffees are monitoring the energetic England international as we enter the final week of the transfer window, and it has been said that he could be used as part of the deal to take Anthony Gordon to Chelsea.

If Frank Lampard can pull some strings and sign Gallagher – thanks to his connections at Stamford Bridge – it would be a substantially better move than Ndombele would’ve been, in our view.

The 22-year-old scored eight goals in 34 Premier League appearances last season, and with a goalscoring expert in Lampard mentoring him, he could better that tally on Merseyside – keep an eye on the situation.
