At the end of July, Portsmouth completed the signing of Tottenham wonderkid Dane Scarlett on a season-long loan.

Big things are expected of the 18-year-old, who Antonio Conte claimed was “improving a lot” in training at Hotspur Way before his move to Fratton Park.

José Mourinho also believes Scarlett is going to be a “phenomenal” forward, while Nuno Espirito Santo added that the striker is an “enormous talent”.

By the sounds of it, the teenager is already shining at Portsmouth.

What’s the story?

Well, according to Jonathan Veal, the England Under-19 international has made a “big impression” on those at Portsmouth.

Scarlett is said to have left his new teammates impressed by his displays in training, where he has caught the eye significantly – specifically with his finishing skills.

His sharpness and energy have also been standout features of the youngster’s early days in Portsmouth.

In our view, Tottenham fans will enjoy this update.

Scarlett has already made three appearances for Portsmouth, which suggests Danny Cowley has taken an immediate liking to the London-born sensation.

Unfortunately, he is yet to score for Portsmouth, but if he continues to work hard in training, we’re sure the floodgates will open soon.

Dane Scarlett could lead the next generation at Tottenham

In our view, Spurs have a very bright future, and Scarlett can be the talisman of their next generation.

The likes of Pape Matar Sarr, Ryan Sessegnon, Djed Spence, Dejan Kulusevski and incoming arrival Destiny Udogie all have their best years ahead of them, and in truth, Tottenham could have a scarily good lineup in a few years.

To be fair, they already have an outstanding squad, but Fabio Paratici has done well to future-proof it by signing some of the aforementioned names.

Hopefully, Scarlett can enjoy a productive campaign at Fratton Park this season, and return to N17 in a position to fight for a first-team place next term.
