Everton have reportedly joined the race to sign Che Adams from Southampton with the Scotland international also a target for Leeds United – a player that has left a lasting impression on Theo Walcott, thanks to his incessant work rate.

Adams, 26, has spent the last three seasons on Southampton’s books. In that time, he has clocked up 110 appearances for Southampton, having a hand in 33 goals. That is despite a tricky start with the Saints, and starting just 71 of those.

On Saturday, he was an unused substitute against Tottenham during a 4-1 loss. Reports claim that Southampton are willing to listen to offers for Adams, who has switched his international allegiance to Scotland – winning 19 caps.

Leeds want the £10million-rated attacker, but new reports say Everton are also keen on the attacker. His Southampton teammate, and ex-Everton player Walcott, is a big fan of the Southampton striker – according to quotes in 2020.

As per the Echo, Walcott said: “He’s a hardworking lad. He’s strong, he holds it up well and he’s getting his goals. A lot of people will judge him on his goals but I see the other side of it. How hard he actually works for the team.”

Everton have joined Adams race: Left lasting impression on Walcott

Everton desperately need a striker. They need a forward similar to that of Dom Calvert-Lewin, who has been ruled out with another injury. Adams, like Calvert-Lewin, is physical, hard-working and excellent in the air.

The Toffees played without a striker against Chelsea and while there were positives, a lack of striker was apparent. Salomon Rondon remains, but he was suspended. Cover and competition is required, especially after Richarlison’s exit.

Adams would be ideal. His link-up play is perfect to bring in the likes of Dele Alli, Anthony Gordon, Dwight McNeil and other Everton attacking midfielders. He is the kind of player you want in your team. He is proven in the Premier League.
