Everton are one of the latest Premier League sides to show an interest in Southampton ace Che Adams as boss Frank Lampard rivals Leeds United after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury.

Everton now join list of clubs with interest in Southampton striker Che Adams

Frank Lampard has responded to losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the next five weeks with a knee injury, with Everton showing an interest in Southampton striker Che Adams. That’s according to talkSPORT, who also list Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest as suitors.

Premier League clubs are monitoring developments on the south coast with Adams’ future in doubt. But Saints chiefs are now having second thoughts over sanctioning a deal for the 26-year-old to leave St Mary’s during the final weeks of the summer 2022 transfer window.

Ralph Hasenhuttl elected to leave Adams on the bench for Southampton’s season-opener with Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday, which they lost 4-1. Yet the south coast natives are undecided on letting their £15m star leave, three years after joining from Birmingham City.

Reports by The Athletic had suggested the Saints were ready to wave goodbye to the 19-cap Scotland international. Even though James Ward-Prowse was the only Saints player to outscore Adams with 10 goals to the striker’s seven in the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Joe Aribo seems to be ahead of Adams in Hasenhuttl’s attacking pecking order with Adam Armstrong now, too. Stuart Armstrong – another midfielder – also replaced his namesake away to Spurs at the weekend, while Adams was left to watch his team submit to a defeat.

Everton hope Southampton are inclined to sell Adams with Lampard interested in a deal in response to Calvert-Lewin’s latest injury. But the Goodison Park outfit could face rival bids by Steve Cooper’s newly-promoted Nottingham Forest or Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

Leeds United have bid prepared to test Saints resolve over Che Adams

Leeds United also have their own bid prepared to test Southampton’s resolve for Adams, per The Sun. The Elland Road outfit are ready to spend £10m on the forward, whom Ally McCoist once called ‘terrific’ and only has two years remaining on his £30k-a-week terms.

The Whites are exploring a move to sign Adams after enduring their own injury nightmares at striker last term. Patrick Bamford missed 27 Premier League games with a host of issues, but is fit for the start of the new season and enjoyed 84 minutes in their win over Wolves.

Everton may force Leeds to increase their offer for Adams as Lampard shows an interest in the Southampton striker after Calvert-Lewin’s latest injury. The England forward sat out 18 top-flight fixtures last term with a quadriceps issue, adductor problem and his quad again.
