Who are Arsenal signing now?

Well that remains to be seen, but the Gunners are seemingly still in the market for additional players.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal still want to sign a winger.

The reliable journalist admited that he didn’t specifically know who the North Londoners wanted, though.

But if Ornstein claims that Mikel Arteta and Edu are chasing a wide man, the chances are that it’s a very accurate revelation.

And it seems possible that Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven is the mystery man being pursued by Arsenal.

On Saturday, Ryan Taylor of The Express revealed via Give Me Sport that despite a lack of speculation, Gakpo remains very much on the radar at the Emirates Stadium.

Back in April, The Daily Mail reported that the Gunners were in talks to sign the player who’s reportedly valued at around £40 million.

Clearly the trail has gone cold, considering a major lack of speculation since then, but it’s plausible that the 23-year-old is indeed the winger who Ornstein believes is being pursued.

If that earlier speculation was anything to go by, Gakpo is clearly a player who Arsenal admire and with time running out in the transfer window, perhaps they could – and should – step up their interest.

Arteta and Edu have overseen an excellent window, with £120 million being spent across five players so far.

Arsenal’s objective this season is returning to Champions League football and although their squad is a lot stronger, they need another attacking player.

And based on Ornstein’s comments on Sunday, maybe that figure could well be Gakpo.
