According to Media Foot, Arsenal are monitoring Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, who Tottenham tried to sign in 2016.
What’s the story?
Well, it seems Mikel Arteta is not satisfied with his attacking options, despite the signing of Gabriel Jesus.
Media Foot believe the Gunners – as well as Manchester United – are keeping tabs on Dembele, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract in France.
It is said that Erik ten Hag could make a move if Cristiano Ronaldo departs Old Trafford this summer.
Lyon are willing to listen to offers for Dembele, who they know they will lose for nothing if they cannot agree a deal to sell him this summer.
Interest in the Frenchman – who Lyon paid £19.7m for – comes after he scored 22 goals in 35 appearances last season, while also providing five assists.
In an ideal world, Lyon would surely not even consider losing Dembele after a season like that, although his contract situation has made him an interesting market opportunity for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.
Arsenal could embarrass Tottenham

In our view, Arteta could embarrass Spurs if he signs Dembele, and the 26-year-old goes on to succeed.
Back in 2016, the striker actually had a medical with Tottenham as he came close to joining from Fulham, although he eventually failed his examinations, and sealed a move to Celtic instead.
Therefore, if Arsenal now get their hands on Dembele, and he becomes a star in the Premier League, those at Hotspur Way will surely kick themselves after letting him slip through their fingers.

Ultimately, another striker is needed at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal have already lost both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in 2022.
Of course, Jesus has arrived, but if Arsenal can sign Dembele as well as the Brazilian, their frontline will be in fine shape.
