Barcelona forward, Memphis Depay, is being tracked by Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to a report.

FootMercato added that Depay could be a direct replacement for his fellow Holland teammate, Steven Bergwijn, who is looking to leave Spurs this summer.

Only last summer, Depay swapped the colours of Lyon for Barcelona, after his contract expired with the Ligue 1 club, but it hasn’t worked out as he would have liked in Spain.

For Barcelona overall, given their financial mess and the fact that they are still trying to recover from Lionel Messi’s departure, it hasn’t exactly been rosy in the Nou Camp garden for most, apart from a number of the club’s rising stars.

Depay certainly doesn’t fit into that boat, with the 28-year-old scoring 12 La Liga goals last season and failing to find the target in the Champions League, as Barca dropped into the Europa League.

Nonetheless, the versatile forward isn’t just on the radar of Tottenham, but several other Premier League clubs, including Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

It seems as though Barca boss, Xavi Hernandez, is happy for Depay to leave, especially with the Spanish giants trying to bring Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski to the club this summer.

But PSG superstar and Brazil international, Neymar, did big up Depay earlier on in the season by urging Xavi to ‘put Memphis in the team’ because he ‘scores goals’, as he posted on his Instagram Live.

BERGWIJN TO LEAVE REGARDLESS OF WHAT HAPPENS WITH DEPAY

Bergwijn only managed four starts for Tottenham during the recently-concluded campaign and the signs are pretty clear that he needs to leave and will leave.

The player himself has expressed a desire to head for the Hotspur Way exit door, with a return to Holland and joining up with Dutch champions, Ajax, on the radar.

The obvious two of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son are ahead of Bergwijn in the Spurs pecking order, as well as January purchase, Dejan Kulusevski and now Ivan Perisic, who recently joined from Inter Milan.
