Sergio Ramos labelled Real Madrid as ‘incredible’ on Twitter after they beat Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League final in Paris.

It was a night to forget in France’s capital for Liverpool, as Vinicius Junior’s goal meant that they weren’t able to add a seventh European crown to their cabinet.

Was it going to be history repeating itself? Or was it going to be revenge? That was the build-up before kick-off.

In truth, the only thing missing before the game was Ramos still being in a Madrid shirt given what happened four years ago between the two sides.

But the now PSG defender watched from the stands, as his former side repeated history once more on Europe’s biggest stage.

“Incredible, Real Madrid,” said Ramos. “Congratulations on making history again. Congratulations on 14 Champions Leagues.”

THE SEASON ENDS WITH A SOUR DEFEAT FOR LIVERPOOL

For a number of weeks, there was a lot of talk about Liverpool possibly adding the unthinkable and never-been-done-before quadruple to their name.

But from Manchester City’s crazy comeback in the Premier League title race to another Madrid masterclass, all of that has meant that the Reds end the season with two trophies this term – the League Cup and the FA Cup.

It’s still a great achievement because the two trophies shouldn’t be devalued, even if the modern game is doing that.

However, the issue for Liverpool is that they were riding such a wave that this will feel like a bitter and disappointing end to the season.
