Angel Di Maria has taken to Instagram to confirm he will leave Paris Saint-Germain, with Tottenham keen to bring him back to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, it has been said that Spurs want to sign the £138,000-a-week winger when his contract at the Parc des Princes expires in June.

Di Maria has become a bit-part player under Mauricio Pochettino this season, making just 18 starts from a possible 37 in Ligue 1 so far, with one game to play.

In total, the Argentina international has made 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals while also providing eight assists.

Now, he has announced his departure from Paris, in news which will come as a boost to Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici.

However, the pair must watch out for Juventus.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are in advanced talks to sign Di Maria on a free transfer, and have now been in negotiations for a few weeks.

The 34-year-old is now waiting on an agreement with the Italian giants.

Therefore, it sounds as if Tottenham will have to get moving quickly, if they are to hijack Di Maria’s move to Italy.

During his time as Director of Football at Juventus, Paratici made a number of high-profile additions on free transfers.

The Italian brought the likes of Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Dani Alves, Emre Can, Adrien Rabiot and Sami Khedira to Turin, players who helped Juventus win a number of titles.

Now, if he brings Di Maria to Tottenham on a free transfer, it will confirm that Paratici hasn’t lost his love of pouncing on interesting opportunities in the market.

It’s not exactly a long-term approach to sign these players, as most of them were fairly old – in football terms – and also in their decline.

However, it did bring silverware to Juventus, so who knows how beneficial Di Maria could be for Tottenham? Only time will tell.
