Bruno Lage’s Wolverhampton Wanderers want to sign Marquinhos, but the winger is set to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal instead, according to reports in the English and Brazilian media.

The Daily Mail have reported that Wolves are keen on signing Marquinhos from Sao Paulo in the summer transfer window, and so are La Liga club Atletico Madrid.

The report has claimed that Arsenal are in talks over a deal with the Brazilian club.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Arsenal are preparing paperworks to complete the signing of Marquinhos.

Reports from Brazil had earlier claimed that Arsenal’s bid for the 19-year-old winger had been accepted, and that Marquinhos is going to move to the Gunners.

Arsenal better option than Wolverhampton Wanderers for Marquinhos

In our opinion, Arsenal are a better option that Wolverhampton Wanderers for Marquinhos.

Now, it is unlikely that the Gunners will draft the winger into the first team straightaway.

There is already speculation that Arsenal will send Marquinhos out on loan to a Spanish club for next season.

Arsenal have a very young squad, and manager Mikel Arteta has carefully managed the youngsters.

There is a pathway for young players to get into the Arsenal first team, and Marquinhos would benefit from that in the coming years.
