Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are on the verge of signing Brazilian winger Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Arsenal will pay Sao Paulo €3-€3.5 million (£2.55-£2.97m) for Marquinhos.
The Gunners are now reportedly preparing paperworks for the right winger.
Reports from Brazil had earlier claimed that Arsenal’s bid for the 19-year-old winger had been accepted, and that Marquinhos was going to move to the Gunners.
Fabrizio Romano on Arsenal target Marquinhos

One for the future
In our opinion, Marquinhos is a player for Arsenal for the future and is unlikely to be signed to make an immediate impact at the Premier League.
After all, the winger is only 19 and is just starting his career.
We should not be surprised if Arsenal decide to send the Brazilian out on loan to another club for next season.
Or maybe the Gunners will simply use the winger in the Under-23 team.
Arsenal have a very good and capable young squad, and Marquinhos could prove to be a bargain signing for the North London club in the future.
