According to The Sun, Crystal Palace are keen to bring Ibrahim Sangare to the Premier League, with Aston Villa and Newcastle also interested.

What’s the story?

Well, Patrick Vieira is on the lookout for a new defensive midfielder, and he has identified the £30m-rated PSV Eindhoven colossus as a target.

It comes after Steven Gerrard personally scouted Sangare when the Dutch side faced Leicester in the UEFA Conference League recently.

Furthermore, it was Voetbal International who revealed that Newcastle are trying to sign the Ivory Coast international.

Sangare is said to be a major target for Crystal Palace, but they also have a cheaper alternative lined up in RC Lens maestro Cheick Doucoure.

In fact, the south Londoners are believed to be closing in on a £15m move for the 22-year-old, so it will be interesting to see if the Eagles sign both him and Sangare.

So far this season, the 24-year-old has made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals while also providing three assists.

Crystal Palace must beat Aston Villa & Newcastle to Ibrahima Sangare

In our view, Crystal Palace have to sign Sangare, as they are crying out for a towering – and technically gifted – midfield presence like him.

As things stand, Vieira can rely on Cheikhou Kouyate to provide steel in midfield, but the 32-year-old is not the best technician, so the Eagles struggle to dictate games from deep.

Additionally, the Senegal international is out of contract in June, and with James McArthur now prone to injuries at the age of 34, you could argue that both Sangare and Doucoure are needed in SE25.

For those of you who don’t know much about Sangare, a comparison to a better-known player might be of use.

Interestingly, the Ivorian has been compared to Yaya Toure, which reflects very well on the Crystal Palace target indeed.

Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen this summer.
