Speculation is rife that Graham Potter is among the names who Tottenham Hotspur could appoint in the event Antonio Conte leaves this summer.

The Italian manager is linked with a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor.

Pochettino has just delivered a Ligue 1 title but, having failed miserably on the Champions League stage, it isn’t enough to save the Argentine’s job in the French capital.

Whether Conte does actually wind up leaving North London remains to be seen.

But Potter, according to The Daily Mail, is a legitimate candidate – and he’s just sent a message to Daniel Levy that he might be the man for the job.

The Brighton & Hove Albion manager has just masterminded a stunning 3-0 victory away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

For context, Wolves are very rarily beaten by two goals in the Premier League under Bruno Lage, so to lose by three – in a game where the Seagulls also missed a penalty – highlights Potter’s acumen in a massive way.

And no doubt Tottenham supporters, who watched their side lose at home to Albion earlier this month, will be taking note of the way in which Potter out-foxed his Portuguese counterpart this afternoon.

Of course, merely winning 3-0 at Molineux isn’t enough to qualify him for the Spurs job.

But when you consider all the good things that he’s done since arriving at the Amex Stadium, with Pep Guardiola describing him as the ‘best English manager‘, well everything points toward North London.

And this victory at Wolves is more evidence that he’s ready for a bigger job – and Levy, if he was watching, might feel the same.
