According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are eyeing up Roberto Mancini as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte as links to PSG persist.
Conte has been strongly linked with a move to Paris over the past fortnight or so, and it seems as though Spurs are contingency planning for if their manager does leave.
Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a return to Spurs, while Graham Potter has also been mentioned, but perhaps the most intriguing link is Mancini.
Much like Tottenham Hotspur, Mancini can blow hot and cold.
He’s won the Premier League with Manchester City, but he’s also lost an FA Cup final to Wigan, while he’s also won a European Championship with Italy before failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
This is a very inconsistent manager, but when he’s at his best, he can work wonders with any team.
Mancini and Tottenham, interestingly, have a bit of history together.
The Italian was strongly linked with the Spurs job back in 2014, but Daniel Levy turned down the chance to bring him to White Hart Lane at the time.
Mancini would instead go on to manage Inter, and his final game as Inter boss was actually against Spurs in a pre-season friendly that I Nerazzurri lost 6-1 in embarrassing fashion.
Appointing Mancini after Conte would make a lot of sense. After all, they both have very similar CVs and were both students of the famous Coverciano coaching school, so the transition between the two coaches should be rather smooth if this comes to fruition.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on if Conte does end up leaving Tottenham.
